祝好,
Dear All,
The School of Marxism will hold the 2nd lecture of the “Sidao Lecture Series” on the afternoon of Friday, October 23. Details are as follows:
●Time: 13:00–15:00, Friday, October 23
●Venue: Room 302, Library
●Title: Academic Perceptions in Eurasian Scholarship on High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation
●Language: Chinese (for the lecture), Chinese & English (for the Q&A session)
●Brief Intro: After the end of the Cold War, most of the Eurasian transition states were long influenced by Western discourse. In the face of a backlash against economic globalization and challenges in regional development and security, high-quality Belt and Road cooperation has received broad response along the routes in Eurasia. Over the past decade and more, Eurasian academia has developed diverse understandings of the initiative: examining biases in Western perceptions, studying the inclusive development outcomes brought by the initiative, explaining China's responsibility as a major country, and envisioning a new vision for Eurasian cooperation. Drawing on typical cases, the lecture reviews Eurasian scholarly discourse on Belt and Road cooperation, Chinese modernization, and China's image, offering theoretical and practical references for promoting the high-quality development of the Silk Road Economic Belt, improving international communication, and deepening Eurasian civilizational exchanges and mutual learning.
●About the Speaker: Zheng Yuntian is Professor at the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, and Director of the World Socialism Institute. He also serves as executive member of the council in Chinese Association of International Communist Movement, vice chairman and secretary general of Beijing Association of International Communist Movement, among other positions. His main research areas include scientific socialism, the theory and practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and studies on Belt and Road partner states (Central Asia and the South Caucasus). Over the years, he has been a core editing committee member for the textbook Scientific Socialism (2nd and 3rd editions) under the Central Marxist Theory Research and Construction Project, and has published more than 30 articles in major journals at home and abroad.
After Professor Zheng Yuntian's lecture, time will be reserved for questions and interaction. All are welcome!
